Frampton-on-Severn Table Tennis Club
The club’s origins lie in the old RHP (Hoffman) club which was located in Stonehouse. Formed in the 1950s the club enjoyed the company’s hospitality for 26 years until it changed its policy on non-employees playing for the club.
So in the summer of 1984, Frampton TTC was formed with just 12 founding members. Teams played in Frampton Village Hall for 14 years, before moving to the Community Centre (now Cadbury Hall) in September 1998 where it is still based.
The club continues to encourage members of all ages and we currently have 2 junior players in addition to some who are, let’s say, the wrong side of 80.
For the 2015/16 season, we have four teams playing in the Stroud and District League and a further two teams playing in the Gloucester League. In the winter months, there is league table tennis staged at Cadbury Hall every Thursday (Stroud League) and, usually, two Wednesdays per month (Gloucester League). Spectators will be made very welcome.
We have had success in both leagues winning Gloucester Division 1 and Stroud Division 2 in 2014/15.
Individually, we have a number of current Gloucestershire county players and our players have been hugely successful in recent years in both league and county competitions.
During the summer, we have a number of practice evenings on Thursday evenings and potential new players are very welcome to attend.
In addition, the club runs a coffee morning with a difference on Monday mornings. Called cafépingpong and taking place between 10am and midday, it provides an opportunity to play table tennis while enjoying coffee or tea and biscuits. All ability levels are catered for, bats & balls provided and tuition is available.
